Tradition and quality for over 100 years.

Brusletto & Co.’s history goes right back to 1896 when Rognald Brusletto started up as a knifesmith and scythe maker in Geilo, Norway. Forging tools and knives was nothing new in this region. The history of mining ore in Hardangervidda and manual production of sickles, scythes, axes and swords around Geilo haw already started 1500 years before. Geilo became an established craft centre for forging tools for work and leisure early on. It was therefore a very long tradition that craftsman and industrial pioneer Roland Brusletto became a part of. When he designed and developed the mechanical hammer based on water power, he even opened up the way to technical development and industrial production that would put its stamp on the industry and the local community for many generations.

Today Brusletto &  Co AS produces veneer sport and camping knives, Our knives an important tool whether you are hiking or hunting and fishing. Our knives are designed and produced to be used. The shape of the handle and blade differs, depending entirely on the need you the user want to meet, and not least, what fits your hand best.

For the most part, we use wood from the curly birch tree for handles and 12C27 stainless steel for the blades from the Swedish steel manufacturer Sandvik. This high grade steel is then heat treated, pressed and hardened to the optimum knife blade. A Brusletto knife will retain its sharpness for a long time and at the same time still be relatively easy to re-sharpen when necessary. The curly birch we use for many of our handles is genetically deformed type of birch where the structure of the wood gives every handle its own unique pattern. In this way your knife is unique. Even ordinary birch and American nutwood is used for some knives. No endangered timbers are used in the production of our knives.

Since 2000 we have even incorporated Thermoflex plastic into our range and currently offer five knives with this type of handle.

Most of our knives are supplied in a smart presentation box as shown here. Our best selling and best known knife is the Hunter, of which more than 1.2 million have been produced since 1961.

The environment is important to us and we have recycling procedures for waste materials wherever possible. We are proud of our knives, which are made with the overall experience of more than 112 years of production. Our basic idea is that a knife is a fellow companion on your trip, a good tool that will carry out tasks both big and small.
